How do I get started?
Telephone the studio and ask to schedule a time for a sample lesson which is only $10.00 per person or per couple. If you continue with further instruction, then the $10.00 fee is waived.
What level of dancers do you teach?
We teach beginners up to and including professionals.
What type of lessons do you offer?
We offer private and group lessons. However, We do not organize the groups. Individuals may form their own group.
What will I learn?
You will learn basic patterns in a variety of dances like waltz, cha cha, tango, swing, etc. At a beginning level you will learn partner dancing skills such as leading and following techniques and rhythm.
What should I wear?
Everyone should wear leather soled shoes. Rubber soled shoes or bulky shoes cut down your ability to dance properly.
Is there a dress code?
During warm weather we ask that the gentlemen wear a shirt and regular pants. It is better for the ladies to wear a full skirt, because the instructor is better able to see your footwork. However, if you prefer, you may wear pants. We ask that the men not wear shorts at any time.
Do I need a partner?
If you have a partner, it is fine. If you don't have a partner, the instructor or the instructress will be your partner during the lesson.
What is the age range of your students?
Ages 15 thru 85
How can I practice my dancing?
All of our students have free supervised practice sessions twice a month during the fall, winter and spring months. There is a modified practice schedule during the summer.
How are classes scheduled?
Private lessons are scheduled by the student. If you cannot attend a class, contact the office to reschedule. As a courtesy, we would appreciate at least 24 hours notice so that your appointment time can be given to someone else.
What are your hours of operation?
Monday and Thursday: 6PM - 10PM (Reason: The instructors have dance clinics in the afternoon.) Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday: 1PM - 5PM and 6PM- 10PM.
Is the area safe around the studio?
It is a very safe area. It is well lit and Penn Avenue has a lot of activity in the evenings.
Is there parking near the studio?
There is ample on the street parking, and there is also a lot close by.
